Product Market Combinations

Product Market Combinations

Bringing together innovative sustainable ideas, knowledge centres and companies.

The regionsof North Holland and Utrecht join their forces to enhance innovation and sustainability.

In December 2009 the programme Product Market Combinations (PMC) launched a platform where knowledge centres, innovative companies and start-ups can meet each other.

In close cooperation with the partners of Dutch Green Technology, the organizing team of  PMC will arrange clusters of sustainable innovative companies and  institutes  aiming to share knowledge and initiate cooperation links among the participants.

Product Market Combinations

The Netherlands have a rich history in gaining knowledge in the areas of sustainable and green techniques. For example in agriculture, as well as in the transport sector, energy production and in real-estate, intensive research is carried out into the possibilities to diminish the impact on the environment. At the same time the economic feasibility of almost market-ready sustainable developments is tested in the field.

This research is not only done in a more fundamental way in knowledge centres like universities but is also conducted in applied research at companies that believe in the market opportunities of new sustainable products.

Opportunities for Companies

In recent years there has been an enormous increase in the area of sustainable developments and sustainable solutions. It is almost impossible for a company, big or small, to keep close track of all the progress in this quickly evolving area. As a consequence choices to focus on will have to be made. This may result in good ideas that do not leave the shelf. Or easy to reach markets that are not targeted.

Within Dutch Green technology the programme Product Market Combinations is intended to inventorize these opportunities.

If possible, and of course only on demand, we can connect companies to other companies, research institutions, universities or academies that can help develop the product, answer any related questions, or explore markets.

In short, Product Market Combinations can facilitate the start-up phase of a new sustainable product or service.

Opportunities for Knowledge Centres

To knowledge centres the above applies in the opposite way: practical knowledge and user experience are essential parts not only of applied research but also of the process of making market ready products of ‘working prototypes’. Simultaneously, it also happens that market ready products never leave the institute since nobody has realized that what has been created is a product with market potentials. Another example in which programme Product Market Combinations can be helpful is when the industry doesn’t realize how big the advantages of the product or technique can be. We can help to connect faculties or students to companies to introduce the new product to the employees.

Bringing together knowledge and ideas is the core business of the programme ‘Product Market Combinations’
