Why DGT ?
The global demand for solutions, technological and otherwise, to the environmental issue is experiencing a marked increase. Developing economies such as China prioritise solving the problems linked to sustainability and the environment.
The Netherlands, a densely populated country, has a long tradition of environmental protection and sustainable technology. Our country boasts a number of businesses that have proved their competence on this score. The Province of North-Holland is home to an important group of businesses and knowledge institutes working in the Environment and Sustainability field. These include the maritime, sustainable technology and agro-business sectors. Large companies, SMEs and knowledge institutes are all interested in collaborating and going global. The long-term Dutch Green Technology project was started to stimulate these ambitions further.
Dutch Green Technology’s goal is to use cluster formation and knowledge sharing to realise greater cooperation between businesses and knowledge institutes at both national and international level. This will result in greater economic returns in the form of exports and spin-offs, and it will drive the expansion of existing businesses in the field of environmental technology and sustainability.
Who is DGT ?
The long-term Dutch Green Technology project was started in 2008 by Ontwikkelingsbedrijf Noord- Holland Noord (NHN), Amsterdam Innovation Motor (AIM), New Energy Docks (NED), The Hogeschool van Amsterdam (University of Applied Sciences) and the Municipality of Utrecht (UCNE) - supported by the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
